Mother Goose Wildlife Garden recognises that:
- The welfare of the child and young person is paramount
- All children and young people, regardless of age, disability, race, religion or belief, and gender, have a right to equal protection from all types of harm or abuse
- Working in partnership with other agencies is essential in promoting young people’s welfare.
We have robust recruitment and vetting procedures in place to ensure that we employ responsible and trustworthy people to interact with people attending our community events, particularly children, young people and vulnerable adults. All of our staff and volunteers are subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check, and references are taken up prior to their appointment being confirmed. We also check that staff are not disqualified from working with children.
When concerns for a child’s protection, welfare or safety arise, we will consider making a referral to the local authority Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) in all instances. The MASH is the gateway for all safeguarding referrals for children within Southwark. It brings together key agencies to work together to assess risk, share information and make proportionate decisions jointly about the best way to safeguard and meet the needs of vulnerable children and families.
